Petition for Discharge
Petition for discharge refers to a legal procedure that releases an Executor from the responsibilities of Administering a deceased person's Estate.
In this context, the executor is asking the court for permission to distribute the remaining Assets of the estate because all Debts and taxes have been paid.
The request is made by filing a petition with the court, accompanied by a final account of the estate's assets and Liabilities.
If the court is satisfied with the petition and final account, the document is approved and it is then known as a Judgment of Final Distribution.
This approval authorizes the executor to distribute any remaining assets of the estate according to the terms of the Will or state law.
Also known as Ex Parte for Final Discharge and Order.
