Handwritten Will
A handwritten will is a type of Last Will and Testament that is written entirely by hand.
This type of will is in contrast to those created by an attorney and signed in the presence of a witness or Notary Public.
Handwritten wills are not legally recognized and accepted as valid in all states' Probate Court.
In some states they need to meet certain requirements, like entirely written in the deceased's handwriting, dated, and contain a clear expression of intent.
In other states, a handwritten will may not be acceptable at all; they require that any will be drafted by an attorney and have witnesses present when it's signed.
Also known as a Holographic Will.
